This course includes the fundamental concepts and the principles in curriculum and curriculum development as a foundation to engage prospective teachers as curricularists. The more active role of the teacher in planning, implementing and evaluating school-curriculum as well as in managing school curriculum change vis-`a-vis various context of teaching-learning and curricular reforms shall be given emphasis.

         This course is designed to ensure that each teacher education graduate will be able to demonstrate an understanding of research-based knowledge and principles of teaching and learning (1.2.1) and apply teaching strategies that develop critical and creative thinking (1.5.1) to equip them with the essential competency-based assessment skills needed to excel in the Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET) and better prepare them for their roles as effective elementary teachers. It involves content knowledge (1.1.1) and familiarity with a range of strategies for communicating learner needs (5.4.1) to improve learning achievement in general and professional subjects. Also, it aims to equip pre-service teachers with the necessary skills to prepare developmentally sequenced teaching and learning processes to meet curriculum requirements (4.1.1) and demonstrate knowledge of the design, selection, organization, and use of diagnostic, formative, and summative assessment strategies consistent with curriculum requirements (5.1.1) for effective teaching and LET success.
